Beyond the Chair  

Serendipitous that I should brave the internet and share what I've been working on 7/11 seams perfectly fitting. 

This will begin my transition from behind the chair.  My time working so intimately with people as a hairstylist or more accurately “Hairapist” has taught me a great deal about myself, as well as humans in general. I often like to joke I've really been more of a Human researcher this whole time, whole time being 15 years. 

I noticed very early on in my career the same issues, behaviors, shames, guilts, griefs, and much more were universally shared with each client. I noticed patterns, reactions, coping behaviors, stories we tell ourselves, self-love and lack thereof, and how it affected each of us at our core. It was easy to see that this was causing a great deal of suffering. I wanted to offer more than a shallow response, or worse we could both just drama loop together, and leave each other drained. So in the beginning years of my career, I went searching for answers, tools, techniques, and support. What I found sparked a lifelong love affair with learning about how we work, why were are here, and how to get the most out of it. 

As rewarding and fulfilling as my gift already was… making people feel like they looked beautiful is pretty cool, but helping them feel empowered, brave, and hopeful, was so much more than words can describe. I loved hearing you come to your own self-remembering, you’d say “I feel like myself, I can do this, I feel unstoppable”. Then you'd go off in the world and return with tales of how you are fucking rocking at life!

The relationship is intimate, I know more than your therapist, and I will honor that for a lifetime. It's so fun being your cheerleader and sound safe space holder. 

This next season is about taking what I have learned and putting it to good use. As I learned from the hair it is a practice not a fixed skill, and the best are forever students. Seeking out classes and being in a self-motivated school mindset. 

This is exactly my approach, School. A New School. One with new ways of seeing, studying ourselves for truth, and learning techniques to improve our self-observation. Self Remembering. Identifying the reality of being. Knowing unity and Harmony within yourself.
