feeling curious
We all start curious, asking a million and one “why’s” as a toddler. Somewhere along the way the response “cause I said so” got so rooted we either stopped asking or just excepted the story in our mind, watched carefully as others made mistakes and we witnessed a consequence we decided we dont want.
All stories, of truth or lies.
Others opinions are barely truth if you knew the right way to measure the sincerity of yourself and others.
In all logic how does one trust, when the one being trusted isnt the same consistent version of themselves in the relationship… Sincerity and truth about a situation or experience would at base level require you to be there, fully present with all of your prefrencences (its hot, cold, loud) at rest. Sadly, we all know someone who in the midst of a beautiful day, can spot the cloud, or be on their phone, or mentally preparing for the evening later. My point is, they are not THERE. How would they offer you any valuable point of view, opinion of what the happens, sensations and judgement.
Imagine asking someone, how pizza tastes, because you have never had it, smelled, or heard of it… they say, “trash, yuck, hate it”. You say, “yup, alright, pizza is a no”. Carry on, basically judging EVERYONE who likes pizza cause you heard it was trash.
You didnt verify for yourself.
There are a million different ways to attempt to pursued someone to experiment for their own truth, but pizza and tacos in the same analogy… can get the point across. It more risky to settle for someone else opinion than it is to try for yourself.
My motivation for sharing, is this, to be curious means you seek answers for yourself. A curious person will research, ask questions, run experiments and gain the wisdom through self applied understanding.
Such person isnt easily offended, because in their search they found ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Having seen the many ways others see the same reality, there is a fascination to see from a new point of view. An opportunity to learn more, its possible that the most learning is unlearning.
A course in Miracles starts the teachers manual with lessons to guide you to the sensation of KNOWING you have given meaning to all you see. (Small example, if you see a “bench” in the room, but later learn the owner calls it a “table”.) With your fixed meaning it leaves little room for, well anything.
Im inspired by the unknown, and not knowing because it feels like I can interact with and be surprised by God ( source, universe, love) The limitless. I limit myself when I crystalize my thinking. Bottom line, how boring.
The bible says, we are made in the image of God. I more often see we made god in our image.Small, fixed. God, the universe, whatever made us, is so infinite and out of our grasp of comprehension, but why add limits by saying what we think we know, it certainly doesnt leave much room to meet something new, both inside yourself and outside.
A course in miracles calls this shift in perspective a “Miracle”.
